NMACT we stand by our resolutions!

Oppose
any policies or laws stating that the evaluation of
teacher competency be based upon student test
scores.

Continue
to poll all members on matters of significance.
Actively promote a physically and emotionally
healthful environment for all educators.

Support
implementation of smaller class sizes as defined by
the original Public School Reform Act.

Support
compliance with existing class sized statutes and
standards.

Encourage
the expansion of training programs for professional
ancillary personnel in New Mexico.

Continue
to support the elimination of incompetent personnel
through effective and proper evaluations.
- Encourage
members to play a significant role in the formation of
district policies.
- Encourage
local districts statewide to accept a teachers total
years of experience in hiring and placement on the
salary schedule.
- Support
inclusion of professional development hours on the
T&E schedule in a uniform manner statewide.
- Supports
compensation from unused sick leave upon retirement.
- Supports
increasing the retirement computation factor as long
as it preserves the integrity of the fund through
increased contributions.
- Support
the current independent ERA fund and oppose its merger
with any other.
- Work
toward raising the New Mexico average per pupil
expenditure to the national level.
- Support
increased funding for the public schools to previous
level of 52% of the state budget.
- Support
increased educational funding from varied and
recurring revenues as long as the funds flow through
the state equalization formula and will not contribute
to "dis-equalization" of per pupil funding.
- Support
adequate funding of all education programs required by
law.
- Oppose
the reductions in public school funding from recurring
revenues in the general fund.
- Support
the state equalization formula as the source of
funding for operational budgets AND any changes to the
equalization formula be made only after recommendation
by a statewide bipartisan task force.
- Support
the existence of NM State Board of Education including
elected members.
